Program Highlights
The 2026 seminar on The Declaration of Independence offers participants an immersive week of lectures, workshops, discussions, and experiential learning centered on the origins and enduring legacy of the American founding.
Highlights of the week will include:
- Opening keynote address by Dr. Lindsay Chervinsky (George Washington Presidential Library) on the continuing legacy of the American Revolution
- Daily lectures and breakout discussions examining the imperial crisis, Black Atlantic liberty, drafting independence, religion, transatlantic relations, and the Declaration’s global impact
- Collaborative conversations focused on helping students understand the modern relevance of the founding era
- A special visit to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, including a primary source session and museum tour
- Multi-day workshop series on podcasting and oral history in the classroom, featuring hands-on lab sessions and practical applications for educators
- Master teacher sessions focused on innovative classroom pedagogy and curriculum development
- Opportunities for professional networking, small-group discussion, and collaborative learning with fellow educators from across the country
