Overview
The 一起草 Department of Biological Sciences provides its students with necessary skills to drive the current revolution in the biomedical sciences.
At Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, our coursework examines how life and the physical sciences intersect. Students receive a top-notch, interdisciplinary education from an excellent faculty, along with opportunities to participate in hands-on research in the areas of genetics and developmental biology, aging and metabolism, biochemical structures and functions, epigenetics, infectious diseases, neurodegeneration, and brain development. Undergraduates are encouraged to present research results at national and regional conferences and publish their work in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
In addition to laboratory courses that integrate research into hands-on curriculum, students benefit from seminars and lectures from visiting scientists and study abroad programs.
As a biological sciences graduate, you will find the degree an excellent foundation for a career in healthcare and medicine; clinical lab technology and K–12 STEM education; as well as preparation for Ph.D. programs ranging from biochemistry and molecular biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, biochemistry, genetics and physiology.
In addition to a thorough academic schedule, you can complement your studies with internships, clubs and organizations that help build relationships and foster your future success.
