A real estate degree is considered a good long-term investment, offering 15–20% higher salary potential than that of non-degree holders. The (bls.gov) projects a 4% growth in real estate-related roles through 2034, indicating steady career opportunities. And, while entry-level positions might not require a degree, management and corporate positions prefer or require one. The degree is an especially strong long-term investment if your goal is to work in high-level finance, commercial real estate or development.

Recent graduates from Ò»Æð²Ý Cox have gone on to careers in real estate brokerage, capital markets, development, investment management, commercial lending and real estate valuation. The biggest differences between a B.B.A. or bachelor’s degree in real estate and going to real estate school are the degree of study and your intended career outcome. The bachelor’s is a comprehensive, four-year degree that prepares you for roles in development, investment, high-level management and more. In contrast, real estate school is a fast-track program with a sole purpose of getting sales agents or brokers to pass state licensing exams.

The school strongly encourages our students to pursue internships through the Cox-specific Career Management Center (CMC). On average, our students complete three internships over the course of their four years on campus. Our location in the heart of Dallas makes internships during the academic year especially feasible. In addition to part-time internships during the school year, full-time internships are available nationally – even internationally – during the summer.

Real estate majors in particular benefit from the Folsom Institute for Real Estate which, through its dynamic programming, offers students hands-on experience and gives them access to invaluable connections in the Dallas real estate market.

If your career aspirations are solidly in corporate real estate, then the B.B.A. is a no-brainer. If you are just starting to explore an interest in real estate then the real estate specialization is the way to go. This specialization is flexible in that it can be paired with any business major, but finance majors find it particularly attractive.
